Association History

You have to know where you’ve been to know where you are going. Kappa holds a special place in its heart for Fraternity history, but every association of our organization has unique beginnings of its own. Each plays a part in shaping us today and continuing the Kappa tradition beyond college.

OAK PARK AND RIVER FOREST ALUMNAE ASSOCIATION

Founded September 26th, 1943, The Oak Park and River Forest Alumnae Association of Kappa Kappa Gamma was officially chartered with 39 dues-paying members. Our dues were only $3.50 then, and the association had income of $137.00 and expenses of $104.10. These expenses included the original Charter Fee of $10.00, a scrapbook for $3.00, dues to Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity (Per Capita Tax) of $39.00 and a Convention fee of $10.00, among others. While our membership has increased and receded over the years, our Kappa hearts are loyal. Many of us still recognize some of the names on that original roster!  Currently our paid membership hovers around 23-28 women each year, including members that have received their 50- and 65-year pins, some brand-new faces, and many gals in between!
